Eric Dane Death, Obituary-Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson pays his tribute
In a tribute posted on Instagram, HBO expressed profound sadness over Eric Dane’s death, recognizing his exceptional contributions to three seasons of Euphoria and offering condolences to those closest to him.
Reflecting on his craft in a past interview with Variety, Dane admitted that while he had always respected acting, it was his experience on Euphoria that led him to truly see himself as an artist. He also noted the strong trust he placed in Sam Levinson’s creative leadership.
Dane first captured widespread attention as “McSteamy” on Grey’s Anatomy. He later portrayed a deeply layered father figure on Euphoria. Over the years, he appeared in television series including Gideon’s Crossing, Charmed, and The Last Ship, as well as films such as Marley & Me, Valentine’s Day, and X-Men: The Last Stand. Most recently, he took on the role of a special agent in Countdown on Amazon Prime.
Outside of his acting career, Dane was dedicated to ALS advocacy through I Am ALS. In comments to The Washington Post, he conveyed his determination to use his voice and platform to support others, even in the face of his own health challenges.
