The South Dakota community mourns the loss of Nathan Engbarth, 47, who died peacefully Thursday, surrounded by loved ones. A lifelong resident, Nathan was recognized for his dedication to family, community service, and agriculture, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and leadership.

Nathan’s life was defined by service. From his career in agriculture to his volunteer work and advocacy for youth development, he consistently sought to uplift others. Neighbors remember him as approachable, generous, and full of humor, always ready to offer guidance or support.

Family was central to Nathan’s life. He is survived by his wife, Mary Engbarth, and their children, Ethan and Grace, along with his parents, Robert and Linda, and siblings, Michael and Sarah. Friends recall his warmth, steady encouragement, and devotion to those he loved.

He found joy in fishing, woodworking, and coaching youth sports, sharing these moments with family, friends, and local youth. His engagement in these activities reflected his passion for connection and mentorship.

A memorial service will take place February 28 at the South Dakota Community Church. The family invites all whose lives Nathan touched to join in honoring his memory.
