Miguel” Segura Dorantes Death and Obituary: Family Mourns Death
In Loving Memory of Ulises “Miguel” Segura Dorantes
With heavy hearts, the community of Elgin mourns the loss of Ulises “Miguel” Segura Dorantes, 53, whose life was tragically ended after weeks of uncertainty following his disappearance in late November. The grief of his passing is intensified by the long period during which family and friends hoped for his safe return.
On Tuesday evening, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the Elgin Fire Department responded to the Fox River near the 100 block of North Center Street in South Elgin, assisting the South Elgin Fire Department after reports of a deceased individual near the dam. Miguel’s body was carefully recovered, and the Kane County Coroner’s Office later confirmed his identity. Preliminary findings indicate drowning as the cause of death, with toxicology results pending further analysis.
Miguel was more than a missing persons case. He was a son, a friend, and a valued member of the community. His presence — in everyday routines, in quiet acts of care, and in moments shared with those who knew him — leaves a lasting imprint. Now, familiar places, like the riverbank where he was found, carry the weight of remembrance.
For those who loved him, the months of waiting were filled with hope, anxiety, and unanswered questions. Though answers have come, they arrive alongside sorrow and loss.
Elgin reflects quietly on Miguel’s life, reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment with loved ones. May his family find solace in the memories they hold dear, and may Miguel be remembered for the years he lived and the connections he nurtured.
Rest peacefully, Miguel.
You are missed.
You are remembered.
