Leah Carnes Memphis, Tennessee Death, Obituary
In Loving Memory of Leah Carnes
With heavy hearts, the Memphis community mourns the sudden loss of Leah Carnes, 32, whose life was tragically cut short Monday night at the Centennial Gardens Apartments. What should have been an ordinary evening turned into heartbreak, leaving family, friends, and neighbors struggling to cope with the loss of someone whose presence brought light and warmth to those around her.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:15 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 7800 block of Capital Peak Lane East, where Leah was shot during an apparent domestic dispute between two women. She was transported by a bystander to Methodist Germantown, but despite medical efforts, she was pronounced deceased. Authorities have arrested 33-year-old Jasmine Schreane in connection with the shooting, who now faces multiple charges, including First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Felony Vandalism. The investigation remains ongoing.
Leah was more than the tragedy that claimed her life. She was a devoted daughter, loyal friend, and cherished member of her community. Her warmth, kindness, and laughter left an enduring mark on everyone who knew her. Family and friends remember her generosity, her compassion, and her ability to make people feel valued.
Though her life was taken far too soon, Leah’s love, care, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. As the Memphis community grieves, they also honor her life, celebrating the joy, compassion, and light she shared with the world.
Rest peacefully, Leah Carnes.
You were loved.
You were cherished.
Your memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew you.
